Wedding filmmaking is, like all creative endeavors, a process that will never be perfected. Looking back at my work from two years ago, I see how far I have improved, and I am sure that when I look back on my current films in two years, I’ll see more growth as well. With that creative growth has come the desire to tell more intimate stories; stories that go beyond just a single wedding day and that encompass more about who a couple is, how they fell in love, their dreams, desires, and heart. Doing this though, requires couples that will open up, be honest, and share both the highs and the lows of their relationship.

These two are the best. 🙂

Marie and Drew embodied all of those things. A two day wedding, complete with warm sunshine, bright lighting, wicked fast go-karts, peaceful hikes, and a ceremony lit only by the moon and fire, wasn’t just about the fun things they enjoy doing; it was also completely and unabashedly them. Their wedding, on their terms, about their love, told through tearful letters, long glances, and cliff-side vows.

Rachel and I are so thankful that they shared not only their wedding day, but a part of their lives with us. We would love it if you shared a part of your life with us too. If you’re getting married, please get in touch. – Matt

If you ask Ashley how we met, she will undoubtedly tell you that I taught her everything I know about cameras, and then used her for all of her camera gear when I needed help with filming something. That is all true, and since meeting her in 2010 she has traveled with me all over the state filming weddings for many happy couples.

We often talked about our own weddings and promised to film each others when the time came. She started dating Tyler in 2011, and after meeting him and seeing the way that he cared about her, I knew I would be filming them in a few years. Jump ahead to June 2013, and there I was filming Tyler’s proposal to Ashley. He set it all up in the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens and completely surprised her.

My favorite part of their proposal wasn’t just getting to see Tyler get on one knee, but how he spoke about her before he proposed. I knew I was filming something exceptional when I saw how much care, love, and thought went into that moment. Their wedding is a continuation of that moment that he proposed, and it is so incredible to be able to hear Ashley’s side of it all in the her letter to Tyler. The excitement that he shows in the proposal film is mirrored perfectly in her letter. I wish I could say that I planned for it to fit together so well, but I didn’t, although I was ready with my camera when it happened.

I’ve heard it said, leave it up to the people that film weddings to have the best ones, and this definitely holds true to Ashley and Tyler’s. From the massive Omni Hotel suite overlooking the Dallas skyline while they got ready, to the trolley ride to the venue, to the vintage camera centerpieces and Edison lightbulbs, everything looked amazing in front of the camera.  The only thing better than all the beauty of the locations and decorations was the joy of Ashley and Tyler.

Special thanks to Taylor Stanley and Kylie Best for helping film this wedding. And if you want to see more of Ashley’s work, visit Sun7Studios.

Have you ever heard of a surprise wedding?  That is what Jessie asked me when I first spoke with her on the phone.  Ideas of filming a couple eloping or one surprising another with a wedding were quickly laid by the wayside, when Jessie explained to me that while she and Jay knew when they were getting married, no one else did.  Everything was planned perfectly, Jessie and Jay had all their friends and family believing they were having a party before just the two of them left for the Caribbean to get married.  Secretly though, they planned to have a friend marry them at the party!

And believe me, this was a cool party!  They converted a VFW Post into a wedding venue, complete with flowers, colors, and a tank.  Well technically, the tank was already at the VFW, but it was still cool!  Everyone was surprised, most of all Jessie’s mom when she saw her in her dress for the first time.  The party was great fun, and even better when Jay walked in with his suit, and Jessie with her dress to say their vows.  I haven’t ever partied at wedding in a VFW before, but I hope this isn’t the last time.

Stacey and Patrick are one of those couples that make creating a beautiful wedding film easy.  They both were incredibly classy but with a twinge of Texas country which really shines through in this highlight film.  Last June, they were married in the Houston Museum District at La Colombe D’or, a boutique hotel with a ballroom that dates back to the 17th century.  The ballroom was actually constructed in France 300 years ago and then, many years later, transported in sections to the location that it is in today.  Like I said, classy.

One of the most charming things I found out about Stacey and Patrick was their last names, Greene and Beene.  Unfortunately, Stacey’s was Beene and Patrick’s is Greene so she will end up being Stacey Beene Greene.  So close to humor but not quite there!

What’s the best way to follow-up an important life milestone like graduating? Of course it’s moving on to the next big milestone and marrying the person you love the most. This is exactly what I witnessed when I filmed Stephanie and Ryan’s wedding in May of 2012.  I originally met Stephanie at Sara and Jason’s wedding last year.  It was great to head back out to Beaumont and film another wedding.  They even got ready at the same salon.

As I was filming the most important day of their lives, two things stuck out to me that the pastor said about their wedding day. The first thing was that he quoted Romans 12:15 when he said, “Rejoice with those who rejoice.” – this wedding embodied that.  An excited couple experiencing a joining together with their close friends and family.  Second, he said that this was their day and it truly was. The spotlight was on them and they were shining. They sparkled more than the fireworks that their guests used to send them off!

Big thanks to Taylor Stanley and Ashley Stineman for helping me film this wedding!
